Dasher loads

Hi guys,

I recently got a Dasher barrel and am working up a load table. My throat was made with the Berger 95VLD in mind and a 1:8 twist.

I get pressure signs at the 32 grain mark using N150 and CCI 450 primers. Does anyone out here have a 6Dasher as well, if so, are you getting craters/flat primers? I lost three cases to loose primer pockets during the first testrun after fireforming, but this was with 34-36gr loads. As there are no tables I am trying to find the limits myself by slowly building up loads.

Tonight I will try N140,similar burnrate as reloader 15) and CCI 450 and BR4 to see if this makes a difference, as N150 is not getting me above 2950fps with a 105gr Scenar without loosing cases to loose pockets.

Any help from Dasher veterans is appreciated to save some cases finding out on my own :)

Jim;
The simple method for creating load data for the 6 Dasher is to find data for the standard 6BR for bullet you intend to use then increase the starting and max loads by four grains. This will give you a safe working range of loads for your Dasher.
,my tests show the Dasher case capicity to be 4 grains more than the standard BR case)

Hi Richard,

Great going on the 6-target record :)

I loaded up the 95VLD again tonight from 32.0 to 36.0gr with BR4 and 450 primers. Pressure signs are quite similar between the BR4/450, but nothing that looks worrying to me until it reaches 36.0 and the primer starts to flatten out. I will stay below 35.5.

The CCI 450 seems to not be as nervous with loads. I have a broad spot from 33.5 to 35.0 where the groups are tiny. With the BR4 I get two smaller areas just before/after 33.0

I've also tried the 88LD. Although my throat is not cut for this bullet,it sticks below the neck/shoulder junction) I get amazing results from it so far. Looks like a nice bullet for the 300m matches.
