Dasher bullet choice

Changeling said:
I think Spensers bullets were sold to Bart's last year. That would mean you might be shooting a Spensers or Bart's, any way you look at it 8).

Clay Spensors bullet dies went to Spickard, MO and are now "Vaper Trail Bullets" being made by Tom Jacobs.

Sorry Bart, my mistake :-[. I went back and checked my source of information and I just plain said it wrong, I should have said Vapor Trail.

In my experience, differences in chamber throating, as well as differences in brass/neck preparation steps, to be dependent influences of what bullet will work best to each individual. And is why what does or doesn't work for one person may or may not for some one else.
To say one bullet is better then the other, is an individual response that may well be unique to ones self.

Indeed. One needs to find what works best in a specific barrel. One man's treasure is another man's trash. For example, I found that there is not a lick's worth of difference between Berger Hybrids and Hornady BTHP Match 105s in my Dasher barrel out to 600.

Sure like to read that about the Hornady bullets being OK. Since Berger's are unobtainable any more I have to find something else to shoot. Even the Berger people sent me a note saying production of the Hybrids is back in business. Still nothing.

Yeah. They told me "NO" and I have a couple thousand with them backordered and recently confirmed and pre-paid. Thanks.

*** Just checked with them. They claim they have none. What can I say?

3rd gen says they have 27 boxes.

I've used the Hybrids since they came out but just started using the Vapor Trails this year and, in my rifle, they shoot smaller at 1K.

Love my Dasher 1:8, 30" Lija barrel. Made MR Master shooting Nosler 105 CC's (blems), LR Master with 107 SMK's. (Both sling). Generally, it appears you can pick your bullet for the Dasher, unless you have a specific bore diameter, twist or game that warrants a specific type of bullet. Looking toward Berger 105 hybrids for LR this year.

FWIW, I found that the length to ogive on the Noslers' to be very consistent, the SMK's not so much, they had to be seated long then measured individually, grouped with like lengths and then seated to specs, a bit of a pain, but they did shoot very well at 1K.

Don't forget the Lapua Scenar and Scenar-Ls. Some of the 105gr Ls were probably the most consistent factory bullet I've every measured, based on base to ogive and weight measurements. In my 6BR and 6BRDX (very similar to Dasher) they shoot exceptionally well.

Do you know what are the differences are between the Lapua scenar L and the HPBT Scenar

What is your guys choice for bullets in your 6 Dasher?
Go to the International Benchrest Shooters website (IBS) and go under results and click long range, and check out the equipment list at the bottom of the page. They will list the calibers used and the make and weight of bullets used. As you will see more people use Bergers than any other brand.
