Dasher and 115VLD

Hi,

I've been trying to get the 115VLD to work in my Dasher barrel,28" 1:8), but no luck in getting it stabilized.

I've tried N140/N150/N160 up to 33gr,compressed load with my chamber), CCI BR4 and 450 primers, yet no success. They fly all over the map with every load I've tried. I haven't measured speeds as I can't even get it stable. Has anyone tried the Berger or the Sierra 115 in a Dasher yet? I can shoot 105 lapuas with no problem at all.

I only get one hole on the target, and I don't mean a group!), so I doubt the bullet is coming apart :)

so you are having problems with the Berger 115? what bullet are you using?

the tubb 115 seems to be doing ok in 8tw dashers, flatlander??)

also--what barrel make? if hart, they have a tendency to have longer than advertised twists.

no one can ever seem to get the bergers to work, that i've seen)

I'll bet if you give the 115's a try, you wont be dissapointed.

Bergers have design flaws which tubb remedied with his 115.

Hi,
I'll stick with the 95VLD Bergers for which my throat was cut. I just wanted to try the 115VLD to see if I could get it stable. It sticks way below my neck/shoulder junction which means a lot of volume loss. I can get 37.5gr in there to just up to the neck-line where the boattail of the 95VLD starts; but only about 33.0 with the 115VLD and a compressed load at that. So it's just like shooting the 115VLD out of a standard 6BR,4gr less capacity).

Many have reported not getting the 115 Bergers to stabalize. But the new 115 Sierra/Tubb's are getting good reviews.

Hope this helps.....Happy Shooting

look 3 posts northward ^^^--bergers!

I've only fired 10rds. of Tubb's 115s out of my 6BR Improved Ubl so far. Loaded 35.5grs. of N550 in fully formed Lapua cases primed with R 7-1/2s. These were moly'd bullets, and I seated them nearly .040" off the lands, was in a hurry, and just seated them to the same length as S107s). They averaged 2942fps out of my 30" 8-twist Krieger. I had just installed a new Warner 24 MOA extended scope rail and had the SS16x42 as far forward as it'd go for prone shooting. That forced me to crawl the stock, and together with the higher head position required by the sloped rail, it led to a pretty awkward position off the bench. The wind was also doing some pretty fast fishtailing from 9:30 to 1:00, and I never clicked or held off to compensate. At any rate, I didn't shoot much of a group, not for a BR anyway) - certainly not anything to brag about. It scored 100-6x from 600 on the MR-1. However, I think seating the 115s into the lands will help, and am just waiting for another decent day to find out.
