Dasher 8 twist and 115DTAC at 1000 yards

Hi all i have just tested the 115gr DTAC at 1000 yards i have been shooting the 107gr Sierra Molly with 34gr Vargett in my dasher with an 8 twist 26" Maddco barrel. on sat it shot verry well with 3.5 moa wind on at 1000 yards 35" approx then i switched to the 115gr DTAC with 32.5gr Vargett it neded 3 MOA to have the ammo centred on the target and also required another 2 moa for the wind. they grouped well but not as good as the Sierra 107 as i shot a 6.5" group with them but the extra wind drift and extra elevation with the 115 was not worth the extra weight in my short barrel. The one thing though is thay stabalised well with no problems at all.

I think Donovan nailed it. When I switch from 107 to 115 I actually increase the powder charge slightly to compensate. You'll have to do some testing to determine if you can actually increase the charge in your particular rifle and if so, how much. I like to keep the velocity of both bullets about the same because that seems to give the best accuracy, in my rifle. I'm sure your results may vary and you may not be able to do that but the only way to find out is to test.

I see that you guys are now hooked on 1000 yard shooting. Time to start looking for a bigger cartridge. I'll send you a couple of cases to ponder. I got your e-mail.
