Dasher 1st.

I have no interest in a Dasher, the 6BR, or BRA is what I will shoot. I just never warmed to the Dasher, or other short necked Kool aid.

Just my opinion, but if a Dasher or other variant had been first, experimenters soon wood have proven how much easier to tune, less finicky, and just as accurate, the shortened 6BR case is.

But either way, like the ppc, shortening and lengthening we would have ended up right where we are today.
Pretty funny that you haven’t “warmed up” to the dasher considering it has nearly dominated the 600 yard F class game for the last 5+ years. It does everything the BR does, arguably better.

As I understand it, the Dasher actually came out of Wyoming as a concoction from the varminter Al Ashton. He was a client of Dan Dowling. He and Dan put the first one together and Al went to the Colorado Rifle Club where he cleaned everybody’s clock in a 1000 yd BR match. Everything historically has evolved from there.

I am sorry but I have always favored the precision accuracy competitions. For me hits and scores are secondary to extreme accuracy. And trust me, group shooting is measured from first to last by accuracy above all else.

But every discipline has different requirements, and this is why one cartridge or caliber will never be the best choice for everything

Sadning to me that today Bench Rest is loosing popularity to less demanding competitions, short as well as long range. But for me, the pursuit of absolute accuracy will always be my only pursuit in competition.

For hunting or Varmint, I will always turn to a 6mm AI or a 6-284 for extreme range hunting or Varminting in the field.

If I played the F class, or PRS game, I might think different. But for my needs, there are just better choices.

So are you saying a 6AI is more accurate than a Dasher?

That is not at all what was said. I very clearly stated that the 6mm AI IS A BETTER CHOICE FOR EXTREME LONG RANGE HUNTING AND VARMINT HUNING IN THE FIELD!

But I will say my last 6mm AI more than once proved it was capable of less than 1/4 moa out to 300 yards. But barrel life would be very short if one was to shoot 54 grains of powder 10 to 15 times in 7 minute courses of fire. Not to mention the repeated difference in recoil.

One reason i would not recamend it. Would it compete with a Dasher at that range, absoluetly! In PRS and F -class where good enough is what is neaded for clean scores!

I also made it clear! For absolute accuracy, which is neaded to win in group shooting,,, the 6BR and the 6BRA have proven more capable! The records prove that!

I also clearly stated for PRS or F-class competition the Dasher may be a better choice.

But the big issue with the 6mm AI in this kind of competition is the volume of powder and number of shots in short time periods, where hits are all that are requiered.

But using a slower twist barrel, where 75 to 95 grain bullets can be pushed over 3600 to 3800 fps, and still be effective terminally on Varmint, or medium game, yes, the 6MM AI is a superior choice, as i stated in the field, and far superior to a Dasher for these duties!

For absolute accuracy at 600 yards the 6BR was a better choice.

But even a Dasher could have won high score easily in this same match. But a Dasher has never turned in a group like this at 600 yards. He'll my 6MM AI could shoot a 50 score with one or 2 X's, even my 6ppc. But neither will group that good at that range.

Finally, these are just some of the reasons I stated clearly,,, NO ONE CARTRIDGE WILL EVER BE BEST FOR EVERYTHING!
