Darn fliers, they just seem to happen and ruin your day

I just upgraded a brand new Remington 700 SPS that I bought. .223 with 1/8 twist, 26 inch barrel. I put a Grayboe stock with pillar bedding on it. Then a Trigger Tech 700 Special Trigger. 20moa rail with a Nightforce NXS 8-32X56. Since it was threaded I also installed a Griffin Armament titanium muzzle brake for my can. I got excited and could not wait to get to the range and try it out. These are a couple of my groups fired at 100 yards with a brand new gun. I'm impressed, so tomorrow I will hit the range for a few shots at 500 yards. So far I love this gun. You can see I have a couple of fliers, but I continued on and shot some pretty tight groups. One inch targets.

Lake City brass, 23.3 grains of N140, Sierra 77gr BTHP, COL 2.260, Federal 205 primers

I loaded these for my AR, but they seem to work pretty well in this new Remington. Today I was shooting at 500 yards and working on a really good group until I pulled that one on the right (darn flier) As I say a flier can ruin your whole day. Same load. I can't complain though.

You could've lied and said Benchmark, there goes the N140. Lol
Great shooting, I'm sure it'll show you more looking at those targets once you two get acquainted!!

I think if someone hasn't experience that dreaded flyer, then they haven't shot enough. They don't break my heart, just make me mumble: ****, several times.

There’s an entire thread dedicated to crappy targets.

Are you shooting over flags?
