Dark Corner and Piedmont question

can anyone in the know advise if Dark Corner got their on range setup and where is their new location? It was to my understanding they were in agreement with the IBS to use Piedmonts Gun Club range for two years in order to build the funds to complete their own range.

I understand, they have not completed their range yet. They had to make changes to other ranges that took efforts away from the 600yd range. They're scheduled to shoot again at piedmont on the ibs website for 2018.

We were talking about this today. Glad to see the schedule on IBS site is correct.

Looks like the IBS needs to update their website to reflect this.
The IBS has not been informed that Dark Corner is not planning on shooting at Dark Corner so the schedule is correct. Per the Match Director of Dark Corner he used Rutherfordton because the Dark Corner Range is near that area.

looks like the same amount of events being shot at piedmont this year, just different names.

Yeah but only piedmont will have soy points, host club only:confused:

IBS say that any other club using renting or leasing another club facilities the host club only gets SOY points, so Dark corner Matches will not be soy point matches unless they get their club up and running and I don't see that happening to soon.

Well since IBS Soy points are the concern I hope to see everyone from Piedmont and Dark corner attend the Cool acres 600 yard points matches.
Yeah we were trying to help out the shooters and give them another venue that would offer points but the IBS I guess has other plans. There was some concern in some past posts about declining attendance or interest in the shooting sport Benchrest in particular, well having two clubs utilize the same facility was giving shooters the ability to get more points with out having to drive halfway across the country,Other clubs from what I understand had been doing this for some time each club only allowed 5 matches per year with points, was really helping with attendance, some matches we have had 60 shooters and for a club with only 16 benches it is pretty good day considering you have light and heavy gun four targets per shooter.
And just so you know the match was postponed due to range conditions not any thing to do with points. We have had so much rain lately that the range get pretty soggy especially since it's next to a river:eek:

Taken from IBS web site
IBS 600 YARD SHOOTER OF THE YEAR PROGRAM
The IBS 600 yard SOY Program will be as follows:
IBS 600 yard Shooter of the Year (SOY) honors will be based solely on the points accumulated at 5
sanctioned IBS 600 yard
matches per IBS Range per year, these matches are to be determined by the respective club and submitted to the IBS with their
match contract. Only one IBS sanctioned club will be able to award SOY points per established and IBS rec
ognized range or facility. In
the event an IBS sanctioned Range/Club chooses to loan, rent, lease or merely allow another IBS recognized Club the use of their
facilities or resources the host range will be the only club that is allowed the ability to award
SOY points. There is no limit as to the
number of Clubs a Shooter may accumulate SOY points at, as long as they are the 5 matches per Range mentioned above. The tota
l
matches a shooter may use to accumulate SOY points will be further limited to the 14 mat
ches at which they earn the most SOY
points from the above 5 matches per Range plus the National Championships. A Match for SOY will consist of either/or Light Gun
and Heavy

I understand the more match argument, go back through the last two years and I have attended almost every Piedmont and dark corner match both years.
It’s 6.5hr drive for us and a hotel room. Cool acres is only another 2 hour ride to shoot two days. So my point being the 60 shooters that attend Piedmont now have 5 more matches 2 hours from their “home” range. I don’t feel that 2 more hours is “halfway across the country”

Plus 5 more IF Dark corner indeed does host 5 matches at their club range.

Look foreward to cool acres and proud to be a part of the new club, just stating I hope to see the whole NC crew there to show their support of growing the sport as well!

See ya Friday!

I was going to say I have been there and I sure don't know how to get there in 2 hours. I shot the 1st match ever held there in 2011 and it wasn't even a points match wonder why I even went o_O
