Damaged Berger tips

Hello, I was relaoding some 6.5 bergers, noticed about 1-2 out of three was coming out of press with slightly dinged tips. Thought it ws my seater, but started inspecting the bullets and a bunch of the tips were damaged. I'm assuming it was caused during shipping.

Damage I'm talking about is typically one side, but really at end of day they are not square, nothing real bad, but certainly noticeable with naked eye. something I should worry about? Typical? Have not shot many bergers

Thanks

Might be a good time to look into a meplat trimmer? That should sort any damaged tips out with more consistent bullets to boot. Shouldn't mean much on short ranges, but if it will take away worries about damaged tips... why not? Heck, I'll take psychosommatically reduced groupsize over "sensible" larger ones any day :)

Hopefully the mailman drops off two MCR trimmers I bought (to prep for a long range trip) soon, I've heard and read good things about them. Kevin (Montour County Rifles) is a nice guy too, although he probably considers me impatient.

Attached is a pic that is describing what I'm seeing, actually pulled it from this site. It's in the article on the widden bullet pointer. On the left is what I'm talking about as damage, I'd say 50 percent of my box has this type of tip, not square. From the looks of it, might be a typical thing with these

I have a few lots of 7mm 180 grain hunting VLd's hat where like that i called berger and they sent me new ones they where also spotted like they got wet or something..

Do yours look like the 5 below?

Bullets just like those, shot the target below and others like it at 600 yards. 1.2415". Like Dave said....It won't hurt anything.

BTW....I don't know how to post the pictures so they are rotated to the correct orientation......sorry.

When the bullet is flying down range it's rotating at a fair rate and there is a cushion of air built up in front of the tip.

I've trimmed Meplats and on the same bullets not. Hard to see the difference, or at least a difference I could attribute to any small defect at the tip.

Most would argue that irregularities at the base of the bullet would cause more error due to the uneven drag. I think I'll worry about that when my shooting skills are such that that's all that's keeping me back from placing shots where I want them at all times 8)
