I haven’t posted much of late, but thought I’d share a few pix of my current PD shooting rigs. I’m on a large grassland tract and it is HOT-94 deg today - also very windy. So much so that shooting PD’s is a fool’s errand. I took in a western museum or 2 today and ran errands instead of shooting. Here’s a couple photos.
22-243 Rem 700. Earlier this week I shot 73g Hornady ELD-M’s and they were super in a breeze. Flat shooting and hard hitting, too. Area 419 brake
keeps recoil down for seeing shots downrange. No spotter.
I’ve missed shooting for last 2 years
and it’s great to be back at it. Although
500+ yards is looking to be a “long” way,

Don't give up! When I had windy days, I would turn and shoot into or with the wind. It was usually much better that way.

Day 7? Dakotas. 95 degrees so a few (nice) shots in the a.m. with a Sako 75 22-250, then to town to cool off in the air conditioned western museum in Bowman. Back out today, July 3 @ 5:30 and it was cloudy (cooler), no wind, no mirage. perfect.
Whacked em 110-510 yds. Also missed a few. No excuses, really.

It was really windy. Agreed, shooting into the wind is best. Totally calm this evening July 3
