D-Day

My Dad was a Cannoneer with the 190th Field Artillery
Battalion. The 190th and 200th FA were assigned V-Corp
Artillery and sent in to support the 29th Division once they
held. We all know how that went. The Artillery could not get
ashore until early on the 7th to get the Batteries firing inland
to support the breakout. Those Battalions were awarded he
assault arrow......As of note; Both the 190th and the 200th
were mostly made up of Pennsylvania boys firing the 155mm
gun known as the "Long Tom"...... Going to the Anderson
Creek UBR shoot, I noticed an artillery piece in a park in
Dubois Pa. Not the Long Tom but similar using the same
gun carrage. The pic is of the 8" M2 Howitzer.

This is Sam Elliot's speech regarding the service of Sgt. Ray Lambert. I suspect many on this forum have already heard it but for those who haven't, it is certainly worth a few minutes of your time. God bless all who served.

I had not seen this thanks for posting.

I had a uncle who landed at D Day. His stories were very similar to what is mentioned in the video.
I could only hope I could be as brave if the need arises.

Thanks Bugs.

Concerning D-Day: I've read one, but not the other (yet). Very interesting how the truth can come out. Here's his website.

In 2015 I was fortunate enough to travel to Normandy and stand on Omaha beach. An awe inspiring experience. My father went ashore on day three. Was aforward observer directing naval gunfire.
we toured all of the significant battle points n many that only the participants would remember.
Cannot forget the Greatest Generation!
