Update on my problem child CZ527. I finally had a chance to go shooting today before the weather took a turn. After the last disappointing results I took a Dremel tool with flex shaft and carved out all the original bedding compound. I made sure the barreled action laid into the stock with no rocking back and forth, side to side, or in a diagonal direction. Made two sleeves to drop in the stock, cut them .005 shy of full wood thickness. The screws snugged up nicely with no sponginess as they had felt before. Torqued them to 40in/lb and they felt solid. Loaded the same bullets, with the same powders and charge weights as before. It isn’t a bug hole gun yet, but the 2-2-1 shot pattern is gone. The groups were the last two of the day, shots #41-45, and #46-50. I know I pulled at least a couple.
Of course, it seems to like unobtainium Varget the best.
