CZ457 MTR Barrel Length

I have the above described rifle. which I recently purchased. It came with a 20.5 inch barrel. What is the advantage of this over a longer barrel. Most of the other CZ rifles come with 24.8 inch barrels.

Rifle does shoot very good.

No advantage or disadvantage, it just "is" - unless you are carrying the rifle around in the woods, where an extra 4" can get in the way in thicker cover, but that's not a likely job for an MTR. Just for comparison, my 457 Varmint has a 16" bull barrel and shoots about the same as my 455 target oriented rifle, which has at least a 22" barrel (too lazy to go dig it out and measure it, lol).

There is no advantage, I personally like the longer barrels better for benchrest use. I have chronographed the longer barrels vs shorter barrels with same lot of ammo.....the longer barrel gave less extreme spread.
