CZ trigger tune up

carl1575

I am still in the car business after 53 years
I live in Yakima,WA. and am looking for a gunsmith that might work on CZs. I have 4 of them 22 17 223 7.62x39. I am looking for some one close,seattle-spokane-portland,easy drive from Yakima. If you know some one,and recommend them give me a heads up. thanks a lot carlf

Carl, Go to the Brownells web site or to catalog #64. On page 156 they list Timney replacement triggers for your CZs. $103.99 list. The setup that I used on my 452 is the sear kit and spring on page 152 and the replacement trigger on p. 155. That works great and the pull is very light on my .17 HMR, 452 Varminter. I like it a lot.

Go to rimfire shooting they have a spot just for cz rifles ask and they can help allot of them use dip triggers and go to rimfire central they can steer you in the right direction for both center and rimfire rifles

You could also pick up a YoDave kit for about $20. Includes 4 springs and four shim tubes. If you can weild a punch and a hammer, the switch out is pretty straitforward with good photos and instructions with the kit. 1 kit did two rifles for me. One is at 2 1/4 lb pull for hunting and the other I have is at about 26 oz pull...very little creep in both of them. Drop in triggers can be also used along with an ajustable sear upgrade but for a lot more money. No manufacturer uses glued in shims on sears for good reason, so be weary of any "smith" or lacky who wants to epoxy in a shim on it.

What he said. With the kit it made one of the best triggers I own!

Plus one for the YoDave kits on the rim fires. I did my 455 22 Mag and it's better than the 2 previous triggers I bought for the gun. And they're only $20. It's a friggen deal no one can touch. I have no idea for the center fires. Mike Palazzo is a great gunsmith though and lives and works out of Covington WA right off HWY 18. You might ask him about trigger jobs.253 631-3959. Good luck.

Old post but I have to agree. I have a Yodave kit in my Special. Light/crisp safe trigger. Easy to do.

Pictured below is my 452 trigger.

Craig the 4-48 trigger adjusting screws come up from the bottom of the trigger shoe. Shown is the fixture that I made to drill and tap the 3 screws. In the pic you cannot see the springs because they weren't there at this time.

That's neat! It looks like a very precision trigger. The setup that I used was a real pain to install. Now that I think about it the installation included a spring with a ball bearing on it against the sear. Of course the ball bearing is never to be found somewhare on the shop floor. I remember that I took a small fillister head screw and turned down the shaft so that I could insert it into the spring and I used the fillister cut to hold onto the sear. This gave me a captured surface and a notch for the sear to hold it's position on. I've had it like this for years and it has worked great! My trigger pull is about 9 oz. When I go to use this gun, I dry fire it in position several times as it is quite a bit lighter than any other trigger I use. I like a Prone gun trigger to be 2 stage and 1# + 1# I have shot that setup for over 30 years. I used to have a Medesha 2 stage M70 trigger That helped me get on the first page in the Wimbledon and the Leach. Since Scott quit making them, we went to the CG-Extreme (Davies) triggers. I think that your setup will be the hot setup for the very accurate CZs
Pardon my ramblings,
Craig

Craig,
The trigger worked great, but we couldn't make a good bolt release for it. It went on the back burner and we sent the two prototypes to a friend in Oz.

We have a recently acquired CZ 455 Varmint. The factory trigger was on the order of 3.5 pounds with slight creep (We could have lived with it), so based on the discussions in this threads, I figured I could go with a higher $ solution if the YoDave kit didn't work. Well, the YoDave kit has worked fine; we're at 18 oz. with no creep, and you can whack the butt hard with a rubber mallet and the rifle will not dryfire. One happy camper here - the YoDave kit is a great solution for the rimfire CZs, especially for the price.

The weakest spring supplied with the kit, with the chosen sear shim, was a bit of a shocker - it clocked out a little under 6 oz. We reluctantly passed on that..... ;D
