CZ 557 in 6.5 x 55 opinions?

I saw one sitting on the rack of a local Gun store. I never owned or shot one. If anybody has any experience with one, I’d like to hear your opinions.

Great rifles. Does the one you looked a have a schnabel fore end? If it dies that’s a Lux, my favorite stick in old school CZ hunting Rifles. Either way they are great rifles and typically will shoot.

I have a CZ550 American chambered in 243 Win and a CZ550 Varmint Kevlar chambered in 22-250. They are both good performing rifles. I vote to snag that 6.5x55 if it’s priced fairly.

It has a fairly plain Jane stock on it. No Schnabel. I think I can cure that. I’d like to have some confidence in the barrel and action.
They have $780 on the gun. It has a cheaper scope on it. It was supposedly owned by an 80 year old guy that just gave up hunting.

CZ550- yes.
CZ557- meh... That's kinda when the downhill slide began. A CZ without a set trigger and big claw extractor just doesn't feel right.

It‘s the right cartridge, classic and accurate. Beautiful rifles in my opinion, but I’m a sucker for CZs. Most of mine are the smaller 527s but I like the 550s and 557s too. I added a pic of the rifle your talking about, at least I think that’s the same model.

I've got the 557 Varmint version in 308. Nice rifle. Mine has the vertical F Class style stock.

They aren't bad value for money.i would want to borescope the barrel before purchase and the 6.5x55 is a good round for deer.

I am glad I didn't see it at a store near me. You need this Josh your other 6.5-55s are lonely and they are older and need a new generation to help them in their old age. Its like the Hallmark channel all the girls get Scandanavian princes for Christmas only you get something better a new rifle in a Scandinavian caliber.

I've sold a couple. Truly regrettable decisions. Unfortunately two of quite many.

There are never any unwed Scandanavian princesses on the hallmark channel. Only overworked underappreciated local girls that get a Scandanavian prince, and they always get married on Christmas day. But the airing of all these hallmark movies starts the day after Thanksgiving. My buddy the diesel mechanic sits and watches them for hours, I think he believes they are real.

I'd go a step further and hold Josh responsible if in two years it's collecting dust in some neckbeard's closet wearing a diamondback tactical; setting below 5 boxes of unusable Hornady Black 6.5 Creedmoor... Tsk, tsk, Josh... For shame
