CZ 550 9.3X62 Customization Complete (Almost)

Gargoyle

Finder Outer
For now...(I swear I'll get off this rifle after my numerous threads elsewhere, :))

Picked up a used set of CZ 30mm rings that look better and sit lower than the factory supplied 1". I really like to mount a 1" tube into 30mm rings with inserts. Makes for a super, non marring grip on the scope tube. I would have preferred to have the QD wings on the left side of gun, but the CZ rear cutout in the receiver makes my mind up for me. I got the QD idea from a show detailing the multi-option QD scope with iron sights. I removed the iron sights on this gun to clear up the sight picture. Probably gonna reinstall to adhere to the back up sight philosophy. et into the thickets and will want irons only. Anyway:

Had the stock cut to 13" LOP and it made the eye relief much better with the Burris Signature 1.75-5X32

I've always had a soft spot for those Mannlicher stocks. That is one beautiful rifle! You should be proud.

Thank you, I am happy & proud! I remember picking it up the clerk says, "You like man lickers, eh?" Everyone in the store chuckling.

I have a CZ550 just like this one and a CZ550 American in 270 WIN with the Kevlar stock and both of them are unbelievably accurate. I just wish the wood stocks were a little harder/more durable. I smile every time I bring mine out of the safe. Enjoy it!

That is the ideal. In earlier days they didn't exist and a lot of attention to cleaning was needed. I admit the long wood stock would need special attention or it would absorb moisture. But, a short, fast handling, powerful, moderate recoiling rifle would be a dream in stainless sythetic or wood laminate

Laminate would have me on my knees! LOL

Gorgeous rifle in a very capable caliber. Good luck with your project. I don't know what possessed CZ to can these beautiful offerings and go to the problem plagued platform they now hawk to us??

Oh no. I didn't know CZ canned the good stuff. I'll have to see what they are offering now.

I do have some inclinations to strip the basic, "mud" stock finish and lighten it up to show even more figure...

I've got that same rifle (550 FS) in the same caliber. My stock looks a bit different. A bit more vertical in the wrist. I'm an FS fan. Got a 527 and a 452 in the same stock configuration. That 9.3x62 is a thumper of a caliber. I consider it my Moose gun even though I've never hunted Moose and probably never will. Unless they come around and tear up my wife's orchard again...
