CZ 527 Barrel

I posted some time ago about a 223 barrel with etching all through the barrel. I suspected it might have something to do with the powder and quite a few doubted it was the powder.

Yesterday, I got out the borescope and discovered part of one land about 2" from the muzzle was missing. It had about 1k rounds and was quite accurate even though a piece of the lands was missing. I suppose crazy things do happen. Just thought I would share the finding. Most likely an inferior piece of steel made into a barrel.

I had a similar experience with a .204 CZ barrel (I believe I replied to your original thread). After 500 rounds the throat looked like the surface of the moon and I had strange crisscross cracks across multiple lands and grooves. Still shot well as long as I kept it clean but in the end I replaced with with a Douglas XX .223 BBL and am very happy with that choice.
Will be interesting to hear how yours continues to progress.

watercam, the barrel has been replaced. This barrel has no firecracks in it, just what could be described as a spider web pattern, especially near the muzzle and of course the piece of land missing. One thing for sure, Cz will never get my money again. Too many problem guns and I will never take a chance on them again.
