I have been using a 527 action/30" bbl/.223/7" twist for my Mid-Range rifle for a couple of years now and am very happy with it. The action obviously does not have the beef of a conventional rifle action so I did something I never do and bedded 1.5" of the barrel shank ahead of the recoil lug to help the action handle the long and relatively heavy barrel. I was able to adjust and by-pass the set trigger and work the conventional sear/pull weight to a very nice 1.5 Ib. single pull with no take-up or over travel.
When this barrel is toast I am converting to a 6mm PPC for the same usage (just because I can). Would work with 6.5 Grendal as well with the appropriate bolt from CZ. Since I use it as a single shot I will not require the larger magazine bottom metal.
