CZ 457 Trigger Upgrade

I’m thinking of upgrading the trigger in my CZ 457. Has anyone tried the Jard trigger as well as the Timney? Pros and Cons/Comparison between the two.

Don’t forget this one !!!

I’m curious as well..

I run a JARD now in my CZ 457. Hard to beat it.
Had a slight bit of creep, but you can tune that out with the adjustments.
The Timney is a nice trigger just a bit highter break weight.
A lot are saving money and replacing the springs, not as light as the JARD
All depends on your budget, skill level and if you want really light or not.

Jard 3 to 6 oz is great. No creep when adjusted correctly for benchrest.
I have a Jard 7 to 10 oz on my sporter rifle. Clean pull

Never compared the Jard to the Timney but I am running a Timney and
have no reason to replace it with a Jard.

I replaced a modified factory trigger in my 457 MTR with a Timney and am very pleased with it. I was hesitant because Timney advertises a minimum pull weight of 1#, but I've been able to safely adjusted mine significantly lower than that.

I bought a Jard and did not think it was better--lighter yes but mine was mushy way too much travel before break no matter how it was adjusted
I have found that with lighter spring the factory trigger just needs very careful adjustment of the sear--a tiny adjustment at a time until it is happy--It seems like it has a distinctive 'ping" when it is perfect--I can go with less sear engagement but it has a dull sound and is not as consistent per my gauge.
It helped with our MTR's to add a shim from Triggershims.com --Lance is a good guy--ships Fast--taking some side play out of it made sear adjustment more stable
did not take but .002 on one rifle and .003 on another but it truly helped
FWIW the CZ trigger pin with e clips from Ebay seems like a quality unit

Mines the 10 ounce straight blade direct from them. Got it about
a year ago. Never touched it, and it breaks right at their claimed
number. Real crisp.

For a nice trigger a re-spring works pretty good. I like the Timney trigger and have several that are good at ~12 oz. I have a single Jard which is about 4 oz. and it works well with just a slight mushy feeling. I would go with the Jard for stationary shooting/benchrest type stuff and the Timney for shooting with any movement involved. The main advantage of the Timney is just the convenience of it.
Mostly just a personal preference type thing IMO.

I have 6 of the 457's. A Timney in one, and springs in the stock triggers in the rest. I like the Timney, I shoot silhouette and some offhand matches with it. But the spring change triggers are pretty good. Not as good as my Anschutz though.;)

ive have one with a yodave in it its good have it set at 16oz. my benchrest rifle has a jard3-6oz. it came with some creep in it i adjusted it out but put it back (personal choice) also shot a timney if i had to do it again jard all the way

I purchased a used CZ which came with a Timney trigger, very crisp and smooth but I found the pull weight to be quite a bit higher than preferred. Replaced with a Jard with acceptable pull, but as described it has a bit of slack before engaging. For my purpose I'm sticking with the Jard. A number or prs and nrl shooters prefer the Timney, so the choice depends on application as well.
