CZ 452 vs 453 vs 455

thought about ordering a 455 or trying to find a used 452, but have a line on a 453. Pros/cons on the models please.
Thanks

I have a 455 thought about buying a 452 because I thought I needed a threaded barrel, but after all the reading, research and shooting, it apears the 455 shoots just as well as the 452, I have shot the 22 and the 17 HMR and they both are incredibly accurate, I too was also looking at the 453 for sale online for 700 but I'm thinking that's only $50 away from a anschutz 1517, of which I used to own, and I can tell you that my 455 shoots just as good as the anschutz did. Hope that helps

I believe (take that for what it's worth) the primary difference between the 452 and 453 is a set trigger on the 453 and the different versions each were made in.
If a set trigger is your criterion, then 453 is it. If not then your back to the discussion points made ad nauseum on various rimfire forums.
Just for giggles I went to Rimfirecentral and searched "452 v. 453" in the CZ/Brno Forum. I got ten pages of hits:

I've got a 453 Varmint. It has the set trigger and shoots very good. It has a real pretty walnut stock. I don't know about a 452 as I've never shot one but I can say the 453 does shoot very good and looks good. It comes with a 5 round magazine but you can get 10 rounders.

The 453 also has 2 action screws where the 452 only has one.

I have a 453, I pillar bedded mine. I don't particularly like the single set trigger, but I have a replacement that I have yet to install that replaces it with a light single stage.

The 452 American has two action screws, the 452 Varmint and some other iterations of the 452 have a front action screw and a barrel mounted dovetail screw.

I prefer the American setup with two action screws but I have had a Varmint and a Trainer that I made shoot very well by adjusting tension on the barrel mounted screw.

I like the 452 Trainers....mine is more accurate than it should be... I bedded it, lightened the trigger, re-shaped the firing pin. The trick on bedding these rifles is to bed from the back of the bolt (floating tang) handle to the front of the barrel lug, this leaves 19 inches of floated barrel. Mine will average in the mid 3's at 50 yards with great regularity with SK rifle match or SK pistol match. I have put over 3600 rounds through it since May of this year.

I have tried a few of the 455's they seemed like good shooters to although not as good as the 452 I have now, I would bet on average they are just as good as the 452's. You get good and bad in both models as with any factory gun.

The 453's are nice but to be honest I am not a fan of the set trigger, the trigger works fine but it sits to far forward for me

At this point in time I would play it safe and get a 452/453 while you still can. If you like the 452 Varmint why not a 453 Varmint. The main difference 452 to 453 is the 453 has a set trigger. It can be used as a normal trigger or as a set trigger with a lighter pull weight. What caliber do you want. .22LR, .22WMR, or .17HMR? You can get the 452 in the American or Varmint and also the 453 in both models.
