CZ 452-453 shooters, 22 Ammo?

You know as well as anyone that you get what you pay for. Blazzer (sp?) will NOT come even close to Eley match ammo. I find that the Wolf/Sk lines work well and give you several accurate/price choices. Also like Lapua Center X as well as CCI Std Velo. This should give enough choices to try out and a good price range to work with. No one can say " This is THE ammo" . Pick a price range with these choices and you should be happy. If you pushed me into a corner---Wolf Match Target/Sk Select or CCI std velo. for average priced (?) ammo.

Which ammo shoots the best in your Cz 453 varmint (22) ?

ChasinElk,
Given your question, I might ask if you are lookng for Target accuracy or hunting and plunking purposes? I do not own a CZ, but understand they are very nice rifles though not "cheap." Personally I own Savages, a Remington and an Anschutz (all in rimfire) that I use for Target shooting and some plinking (the Remington). There is a wide range of ammo you could test out on your rifle. So if you'd further define your intent of usage, it would help narrow the range of ammo as the range I'd recommend testing would be from $5 a box to $15+ a box, again depending on what you are trying to accomplish. In any case, enjoy that rifle and have fun.

we have three cz between me and friends we find out eley target and eley black box works very well my buddy has a 453varmit and he shoots under one inch with eley black at 100m we also use eley target and get more flyers opens up to 1.5 to 2.0 little inconsistent . the target runs around 5.00 box and eley black runs 15.00 a box we use target for cmp sporter and black box for 100yd benchrest and minipalma

Fed 711B and SK Standard+ (WolfMT) do very well in my CZ..the former being a bit cheaper to procure. Lapua Midas and CenterX are more expensive but will eek out a bit of extra accuracy if your shooting for scores. They group about an 1/8" better at 50 yrds than the Fed 711b and SK.

Any ammo that is over the speed of aprox 1100 fps will give you additional trouble as it gets disrupted in its transonic flight downrange...this rules out much of standard velocity and high velocity fodder/hunting ammo thats out there.

Hey cb,
In case you are looking for Eley Black, Dan Killough Shooting Sports is selling Eley Black for $12.25 a box and Champion Shooters is selling it for $13. Heck I'm paying right at $15 for Lapua Midas+ right now. $15 is way too expensive for Eley Black and you can probably get Tenex Red for that price or a tad more right now. Info only.

I like Federal American Eagle, high velocity, 40 grain soild lead. This ammo is relatively inexpensive which permits me to shoot a lot. It's amazingly accurate and reliable (misfires).

I can normally keep all my shots well within a 1 1/2 circle at 50 yards with this ammo. While this is not target grade accuracy, it meets my needs for hunting and practice.

The CCI Standard Velocity shoots tighter but is more expensive and harder for me to get.

Wolf ME/ SK seems to work well in a broad range of different brands/quality rifles about 67$ a brick. Rimfires are testing testing testing.

Lapua Center-x worked better that Wolf MT in mine. I use Aguila sub sonic 38g for silhouette practice, plenty accurate and cheap, Lapua for competition.

CCI Standard Velocity, Wolf Match Target, Federal Automatch (not as good as the other two, but not bad for high velocity). That's in a 452 Varmint and a 452 Style.

A great shooting ammo....especially for the price... is S&K Rifle Match.

It's about $6/box which is more than bulk ammo but less than premium ammo like Eley and at 100 yards or more shoots just as good.

It can shoot 10 shots in a big raggedy hole at 100 yards in alot of guns but try a box before you go crazy as these rimfires are temperamental and ammo sensitive.

+1 on Sk rifle match . Have had very good luck with it in several guns . May not always be the very best but will be towards the top in accuracy . I also am paying $6/box and am buying it from the ammunitionstore.com. Very nice people and prices.

I have 452 varmint and out of the cheaper stuff CCI Mini Mags worked the best. The CCI velociters had tighter groups at 50 but at 100 the 36gn mini mags took it.

I don't have the varmint but I do have the special. Since every gun is different it's really all relative. Mine will shot 6" groups @ 200 with the tanget sights using 510B, less than 3/4" @ 50 with a scope on it. Almost single holes @ 25 with CCISV and a scope.

Plenty good for the squirrel hunting that I do.
