Custom shop XP-100 HB in .250 savage

Howdy,
Just wondering if anybody owns one of these. I just picked one up tonight and I'm only used to loading for a Savage 99. Any load data to share?
It's wearing a Burris 2 to 7 or 3 to 9 handgun scope which I'll have to send in to get serviced because it's got a cracked interior lens. Beautiful stock on it- midpoint finger groove pistol grip. I'm looking forward to my first XP experience.

Thanks, Gary

Sounds like you made a very nice find. Burris will take good care of you on the scope. I sent a 3x12 in and had it back in 10 days, all it cost was the postage to send it to them.

This is the place to go for big handguns:D The Custom Shop xp's are known to be better shooters than the guns assembled on the floor. They have better barrels, and you will notice the barrel has no stamping on the barrel except for the caliber. Two of mine were glass bedded.

Becareful over at that sight. They like to pack plenty of pistol, like these.

With one of these you don't need a rifle.

I just viewed the video and it took about 30 minutes to get my lap top functioning again. some kind of virus going on there. FWIW

Does not bother my computers, I check it at least everyday.Never had any virus issues over there.

Wow, 6 gill brake and you still had to watch out for the scope coming back. How does she do at 1000? Design is right and 338 should tackle the wind. I like it.

I think Gary is getting some input over on the SP site. Lots of good folks in both places. XP should be able to handle the old Savage loads pretty easily. Current manuals will be data for those old guns, less a wear and tear liability percentage. Some of the older reloading books, using real guns instead of shooting fixtures, that include all the data on twist, primer, case, etc will have some good data, BUT, big BUT, you have to confirm ALL of the components are the same. For example, some of the old books only showed "4831" or "4350". Most of these were Hodgdon powders, because IMR, Accurate, etc were not around yet, but you need to confirm to be sure. The folks at Hodgdon can tell you the difference in the powders and how to extrapolate for the newer production powders. You have to ensure the primer you choose is similar to older one, same with case/capacity. A little homework, and knowledge of improvements over the years, and these historical load manuals become invaluable when searching for load data on older cartridges.
