Custom repeater action for hunting?

I'm having one built on a defiance tenacity xm length action.

I have 2 Pierce, 2 Stillers, and a Satterlie for hunting. They are great. I have several on 700s and mod 7s. I have a couple PT&G 3 pos safeties, My only miss s were my fault.

If you hold the trigger back when you close the bolt and let the firing pin go to the fired position, the bolt won't come open while carrying it.

I just wanted to thank you for that bit of information. I tried it and while the bolt can still be opened, it takes a lot more effort to do so and I don't think it will come open on it's own. That 3 position safety sounds like a winner, but not sure if it will fit the Defiance.

Defiance has a 3 position safety option for their actions.

I wanted to try a 3 lug for this elk rifle. I bought a Terminus Kratos from Joel Russo and he is a very knowledgeable individual and does top notch work.

My favorite action for a hunting rig as of late has been the Mesa Precision Summit action. Very well made, smooth bolt with a 60 degree throw and a unique look with the hexagon fluting and knob. It has an integrated recoil lug and will except Wyatts mag boxes or AICS setups without issue. I have built four or five rifles on them now and they have been great so far.

Get what your gunsmith is comfortable working on. There are a dozen+ "custom" actions that are up for the job. Figure out who's going to make your barrels and time/build the gun, and ask them what they want to work on. You'll have the best results that way.
