I have one of those early 40X but I decided to restore it. It out shoots the later 40X's I have and it out shoots them with a lot more brands of ammo.

Nice Job! Try the SK Standard. I found that in my factory barrelled 40-X that it outshot the match variety at 50 yards.

I think you measurements are a little off. For a 22LR group to be under .222" all the bullet holes have to be touching.

Fine looking Remington. What is the barrel length & contour? & how do I contact Ray Perry? Am waiting on one of Stillers 40x clone actions .22 rimfire repeater in stainless steel for a squirrel rifle build & your 40x is exactly what I have in mind.
