Custom neck honing/reaming for full-length sizing die?

I'm looking for a company that does custom neck reaming/honing for full-length sizing dies. My Redding 22 BR full-length sizing has too small of a neck diameter but redding is no longer doing this service.

After 6mm cases have been necked down they really should be turned, so do it. Not a big deal.

The lap system works. I've used it for dies and the holes on revolver cylinders to make them match barrel groove diameters or .001 over, depending on application. The method in the link has good information. I wouldn't recommend someone brand new to this attempt his hand held method. I would suggest a lathe, milling machine, or drill press to help keep things straight.

Seems odd - what are the dimensions that you are a) Looking for b) the die is sizing to?

Here ya go: https://rickaverill.com/projects-past-and-present/lapping-reloading-dies/ . If you need to remove quite a bit to get close, you can either bore it out with a carbide boring bar or use a carbide end mill; a 1/4" carbide end mill will give about a .248 bore. I have done 3 or 4 dies with the barrel lap and opened one up with carbide end mill for starters. All worked well but it takes a little time and patience. If you want to send it out, try JLC Precision in Iowa.

Could've fooled me. That's all I've used for the past twenty years. Never ever had a die neck honed. Wonder if all the folks shooting 6-284s and 22 Dashers know this?

Rick

I'm not sure what you mean by your comment, the link you copied was about bushing dies and you are saying you never had your non-bushing dies neck honed larger.

I ask because I have never had any of my Forster dies neck honed either because it was not needed.

Uncle Ed, I didn't post a link. I think that was from Joe.
