Custom Model 70 22 Hornet

I was walking through a local gun show and saw this rifle on the table. Not paying attention to what the action was, I was looking at the stock. Upon closer investigation, I could see it was a Pre-64 Model 70 action, cut down to the length of the 22 Hornet cartridge.

After some discussion and very little negotiations, I bought it. I already had a Pre-64 22 Hornet in a Super Grade, but I couldn't pass this one up.,,

Wow, that's a beauty! Love the grain on that stock. It would be hard to pass up if I saw it. Nice workmanship on the metal too, very cool.

Here it is with a Cooper Classic 204 Ruger. The stocks are almost a match...

That's a great rifle and true craftsmanship at it's finest.
I doubt if you could find closer matching stocks if you looked the world over.

Actually, it was -42 this morning and we went out elk hunting. We saw four, had shots at 400 yards, but they just couldn’t hit anything. I have already filled both elk tags…
