Stephen Hall from Dyersburg, Tn brought his custom 300 win mag Thursday up from West Tennessee. Stephen put his own touch to the case adding a little length to the neck making more powder capacity and also letting the big 245 gr burger stick out longer and not being stuck too deep into the case.
We started out at 600 with a sighter that was dead on, then second shot taking the hostage taker out. Then to 800. I had a 4 inch round plate, 1/2 moa, spinner. First shot slightly off but next two shots spun the plate so violently that the second shot knocked the swing set over.
Next we moved down to the 1830 yd spot. Picked out what looked to be a brown soft ball sized rock. He had numerous shots that hit inches from the rock with gusty wind. One shot actually knocked a little dust off the rock.
Next up to the top of Rocky Top and a few shots at 2030 yards. Spot on.
Now the really fun spot was the 1235 yard line. I have 17 tons of lime for a berm. Wind and rain had smoothed the pile down very smooth. Ole Chuckie was sitting in the lime. First 4 shots were two on left and two on right with the exact same waterline. Then the hits started. Chuckie took I believe 7 hits. First 4 formed a tight group all in his gut. Then I told Stephen to start trying head shots. He put three more hits on Chuckie up in his chest and throat.
Next the knock over Prarie Dog was standing on the stand of the coyote. A couple of shots and the PD went flying backwards doing sumersaults. He flew back at least 6 feet and landed on top of the lime pile. Awesome gymnastic tumble.
Finally, the coyote took a hit in the shoulder and rear end.
Great day at the DOME. He arrived about 1:30 and we finished about 6:30.
