CUSTOM DIE MAKERS ( who )

I am going to have some dies made up for a 308 and a 6.5x47 Lapua. I am going to make me up a list of people who make them. I know that Harrel and Warner tool makes them also. Who else out their knows of other people that make custom dies. I got on Warner tool and rifle site and they seem to make some pretty neat dies. Has anyone here used their dies before and if so how do you like them.

Neil Jones makes the best dies that I have ever used. They're not cheap but to coin that famous saying again, "buy the best and cry once". I have a 6DASHER set and a 300WSM set and will soon be ordering a 6SLR set and a 7SAUM set.

Can i get the specs of the reamer being used in my builds and use them or sending in fired brass the only way. Do these dies full length, bump shoulder and neck size in 1 step when set up.

Yes. It is the one-step do it all die. And, does it very accurately.
It might be hard to justify the money spent, but it is well worth it.
I have always sent cases that have been fired twice for the build. Neil says that is the way to do.

Are you using a wilson seater?

I purchased the three die set from Neil. That includes the threaded sizing die, threaded seater, and the Wilson-type seater.

I use the Warner die for my 284 Winchester. The insert was made from 3 fired cases and it works very well, and it also sixes the necks and bumps the shoulder using the shims.. The base price will make you cry a lot, but after that the inserts and neck bushings arent so bad for what you get.
I've been waiting on the internals for my 6SLR and my 25-284 for a while now though.
My Neil Jones die set for my 7mm SAUM AI has a threaded seater that rarely has any runout to speak of..... The sizing die turns out perfect cases for my chamber... He also used 3 fired cases to make them..

How come on the 3 die set you are getting a wilson seater if it is coming with a custom threaded die seater?

It's a Wilson-TYPE seater that I can take to the range with my Arbor press for last minute seating adjustments when tweaking loads.

Did you buy your owne reamers for the rifles you had chambered?

Yes, but Neil Jones will not make dies from your reamer or reamer print.

They both do a heck of a job, can't really say one is any better than the other.

I do not have my owne reamers for the 2 builds i am having done. They are a 308 and a 6.5x47 Lapua and both will be tactical rifles built by Mike Bush of Underground Skunkworks. They both are getting close to the final phase which is in my hands. So when the time comes to have them rebarreled do i need to make sure he is still using the same reamer for my builds in order for the dies to work correctly or should i ask him if i can purchace 2 reamers ( new ) to have for my self from who ever he is getting them from per his specs.

Honestly, for those two calibers I don't see a need for true custom built dies. Redding and Harrel's both offer nice f.l. bushing dies. Harrel's even has different size dies if you want more or less sizing. Redding's seaters are top notch and if you're looking for an inline seating die, the Wilson units do a fine job. If you're not looking for an inline seater setup, you could opt for the Redding dies and never look back.

The Warner Tool and Neil Jones dies I've seen are top shelf.
