Anyone here ever hire Hornady to make a set of custom dies? If so your thoughts? I'm going to need a die made if i do my 22 little skeeter "22ppc .100 short with 35 degree shoulder" but I've never been a big fan of Hornady dies. There off the shelf dies anyway, Warner tool has made my dies in the past, but they are not cheap. I no longer compete and for that matter i really don't get to shoot much. I'm always busy getting everyone else ready to shoot. I hate to spend 800$ for a set of dies. Looks like Hornady will do it for 200$ Any thoughts on their custom dies? Lee

Howdy !
The last 3 times I needed dies, I bought Hornady.
This included a custom order case forming and reloading die set for my wildcat
“ .358AutoMag “ ( .357AutoMag expanded to full .358” rifle calibre ).. Hornady’s custom die dept even threw in a small base size die in case I needed it…. for free.
They also made me a “custom” combo Shoulder bump/bushing NS die for my
“ .22-35 Remington “ wildcat. The die works really well for me, and does the things
I need it to do. As it happen, I was able to get dual-use value from the die, as it also worked on my more recent “ DEEP 6 “ wildcat; by my simply swapping out the NS bushing to allow use on my 6mm wildcat cases.
Similarly…. I was able to get dual-use out of one of their bullet seaters. All I had to do to switch the die over from use on my .224” cal wildcat to use on my 6mm…. was change the bullet seater stem. I have had no problems or concerns with bullet “ run out “, when using Hornady bullet seater dies. Can’t ask for more than that ( IMHO ).
I also had Hornady make me ( custom ) bullet seater stems, taylored to fit a specific bullet. I have upgraded all of my Hornady bullet seater dies to feature their “Micro-just”
Micrometer top.
Hornady’s prices are all reasonable, delivers have been timely; and observed quality of their products…..first rate.
Right now, were I to need some dies ( custom ordered or otherwise ), Hornady would get the nod.
