Custom Ammunition Who can reload for me?

I am getting ready to have my first tactical rifle built. The caliber will be eather a 260 or a Creedmore

My smith will develop the right load for the gun.

I travel all the time and do not reload. When I do make it back to the states I spend most of my time shooting.

Question: Can a gunsmith with an FFL load and sell amunition for me or does he need a manufacturing licence? He thought he needed one??

Change your caliber to .308 Win. and use Applied Ballistics ammo made by a champion shooter, Bryan Litz. Top of the line components and assembled with precision.

As habu said, you need a license to reload and sell ammo. The license is different from the license that a gunsmith would normally have. Second, if he is a busy gunsmith, he may look upon this as an unneeded cumberance. The ramifications of liabilty exist also and insurance is expensive to hold. Therefore, legally made reloads tend to be pricey, if you can get them at all. I doubt anyone will jump up here and say "I will". Arizona Ammuntion in Phoenix used to do this service and are or were in the same building as McMillan Stocks. Our son, Paul, used to be in that business but got sick and tired of the paperwork and so he quit doing it and closed up shop. We told Mike McMillan about it and that was when they started Arizona Ammunition. I don't know if they still do the custom reloads.
Why not jump in with both feet into doing your own reloads. You will find it expensive at first but once the equipment is purchased the cost is low. Also, when you re-load your own you can custom tailor your load to that condition, that rifle, that day. You can experiment with loaded length, different bullets and primers, your load. It's fun.........when you are right.

Go with The Creedmore and shoot The Factory Hornady ammo. I know there are a few tactical shooters around the country that shoot it and do fine at matches.

Reloading your own is far more rewarding. As stated, the paperwork and liability involved is not worth it. There is little profit to be had. Also you would do better loading your own because you would have a really hard time getting exactly what you need. The maker would have to have your rifle in hand to create a proper load for your specific rifle.
