Custom actions vs. Savage actions ;D

Erik Cortina

Team Lapua Brux Borden Captain
It's an ongoing debate on this forum.
One one side we have the custom action shooters explaining over and over the advantages of a custom over a Savage.
On the other, we have the hardcore Savage owners claiming that their actions are as good as a custom.

Well, I found a video on youTube that shows how this debate unfolds in real life. They used cars instead of actions, but you get the idea.

Orange car, driver with sunglasses = Custom action and custom action owner competing at matches. Good as is from the manufacturer.

Purple convertible with the spoiler, neon lights, paint job, and most important, the drivers confidence (note their cheering squad as well) = Savage action and Savage action shooter on forums. The cheering squad is all those guys that post "+1" after a Savage owner has made another post about Savage's accuracy.

I also noticed in the video that your Orange Car is the one that is making the most NOISE.

Same thing happens in competitions. The customs are making noise shooting while the Savages are getting their triggers worked on. ;)

To be more specific I was referring to the driver of the Orange Car and comparing it to some of the NOISE made in some postings.

The point is, that the equipment was doing the talking (orange car), not the the driver like in the other car.

....Erik... Have you received that "Signature series savage" of mine yet for your final engraving??
It should have shown up by now , sender of package would be "Zeke Bindertwine Precision and custom puttin together" .

Let me know as I am at a standstill with the rest of the "puttin together" ... Lol

I haven't received it. It probably went straight to "junk mail" ;)

I understand the point you are trying to make but I am not sure you understand my point, which is maybe being drowned out by the anti Savage NOISE.

So.... Savage has done more for the sport of F class (Fo, Ftr) than any other maker period.....it has brought new shooters in that are on a budget, then opened their eyes to the sport AND made them inccrease their budget for this sport which is good for everyone!

Fact is, some people truly are on a very tight budget and Savage has made the difference between getting into the game this year or WAITING 1+ years....

Keep bashing but I am truly greatful for their involvement in the sport.

What sound did VAJims Savage make when it won the Nationals?

I'm guessing the sound that an exception to the rule makes. Lots of things are possible - it's possible for the tortoise to beat the rabbit. It's possible that I might win the lottery. It's possible that I might get bitten by a radioactive spider and gain superpowers. None of that makes it the likely case, but there is almost always an exceptional case.

I really like Jim Crofts, and I consider him a friend. I was as happy as anyone else that he won the Nationals, and I would be just as happy if he won again. But even after winning the Nationals with a Savage, he now has a rifle with a custom action. The trigger was the problem.

Yes I am aware he is now campaigning a different brand. No I am not saying savage is the best, but my facts I stated about what they have done dor the sport or why people use them can not be ignored.

I would hardly call Jim a blind squirrel but that pic is funny!

I must admit the pic is funny. Can you win with a Savage yes, But I outgrew the trigger and moved on. I still have numerous Savage PTA's and don't plan on getting rid of them all. You all can keep pounding this for years, I'm going to do some reloading in preparation for this weekends 1000 yd line.

That being said this year I am shooting A Borden action custom by Ray Bowman of PR&T.

Anyone want to buy a nice walnut stock Savage?

Va Jim
