Current barrel/reamer for Palma rifle 308/155

So I may be updating my current Palma rifle and it’s circa 1998 for barrel dimensions and reamer choice. Currently using a Krieger 1-13”, .298/3065 with a 95 PTM chamber ( .050” freebore)

It shoots well, and being in Canada 155’s are the primary choice for bullet.

Thinking that when the time comes to rebarrel, is contemporary thinking back to a .300/308 bore dimension and reamers in the 308 Bisley or 2011 Fullbore realm? What about twist rate for 155’s ? Still a 13” twist or are most going to a 12?

With the Longer 155's out there now days, most everyone has gone to a 1:12 twist. You are correct, No need for a tight bore either. Not that it will hurt you, its just not needed. Any of the Chambers above will work just fine. The Palma 95 is still a good choice.

Call Manson reamers and ask for either a T15 or T30 (one is 223 FB and the other is 308 Fullbore that’s been updated and is also Bisley compliant). They usually have them stocked. 1:12 is pretty much the standard as of now. Personally I like using a tight bore (.298/.3075), not for any quantifiable reason, just that my first Palma gun I got was tight and so I’ve ordered my subsequent ones that way. They’ve shot very well for me so far (also a benefit if you go to Bisley and shoot their ammo from what I’ve heard, no personal experience there).

This is good advice. I have a 1:11 with some other match/tactical chamber. The throat is long but I thought I might use heavier bullets. The 155s are all I've used and though the jump is a bit, they shoot great.
