Curious Pressure signs

I posted this on another thread but was thinking it should be it's own thread

Just curious as I had ta pressure issue happen last Sunday using my handloads with a load I have used for years without any issues at all temps. The brass is 6.5 x 284 Lapua necked up to 284 which has been shot about 8-9 times. Powder is N160 and primers are BR2's. I loaded 60 rounds using Autotrickler for the weekend match and we normally shoot 3 relays and 50 to 55 rounds.

Shot 1 relay without issues. Shot 5 rounds into second relay after the barrel was cold (shooting at 22 degrees F) then had 10 rounds showing extracter marks and slightly more bolt lift. I checked the primers and they were looking exactly like the previous relay. There was no primer flattening and the rounds shot to the same POA with the velocities indicated on the Shotmarker system within the norm. The bullets are seated well above the donut area.

I started the third relay using rounds I had loaded last and fired the rounds in reverse order. I had no issues and these rounds looked like the first relay. I ended up with a few unfired rounds left over from the order of the second relay and pulled them apart to check. I couldn't find any issues at all. All measurements from powder weight to bullet weight to case length to neck thickness were perfect.

A friend suggested defective primers but I don't know and looking for some suggestions to look.

I have fired at least a couple thousand of this load at all temps and never had this issue before.

Thanks

I have shot piles of VV powder over the years and the only one that I've ever had any unexplained pressure signs with has been 160. PM sent with a lot number.

That temp is actually not to bad. It was sunny and bright out. We have little humidity in the air so it is pleasant. I had my coat off most of the time while shooting!! When it gets below 0 F then things get a little chilly!! Pen ink freezes and you have to revert to pencils on the plot sheets!! Time to put away the sandals and put winter boots on!!
