Crow down

I killed a deer and by the time it took me to lower the gun, two crows were on it going after the wound area. I needed to climb down out of my stand, run to the deer and drag her a hundred yards to a horse shed so I could resume hunting. I'll kill everyone that gives me the opportunity. As far as being intelligent, I haven't yet seen one on the other end of a 17 Fireball. Having said all that, featherbombs are closely related to snerting and as such remain in the top ten of varmint hunting. :D

do you really mean everything,,

I think he means every one (of those crows)...

And I agree that crows, or even better, common pigeons, tend to respond like they are full of tannerite when hit with a Sierra 50 grain Blitz at about 30 feet....

We are all friends here. Even if we don't agree on everything every time. I could try to explain this if anyone is interested. Anyways, on with the show. In my state the common crow, the Raven, in fact any native animal, bird, reptile is protected. It is either a game animal with legal method of take and seasons, etc, or it's off limits. I shot the Shiet out of everything that crawled, jumped or flew. When I was 8 years old. The OP may atone for his sins in my holy self appointed temple of righteousness by eating his kill :) I fear that when I am met at judgement day at the gates there will be one of the many lizards I sent to hell in fragments and chips of bone and blood splatter to be picked clean by fire ants. Crows don't hurt anyone, they are not pests but native animals. If they are pests, if they are destroying crops or pecking your cat's eyeballs then bang away. But they are really smart adaptable creatures and get the message very quickly.

If you ever see a crow steal a baby rabbit or kitten from the mothers nest, you will know why I shoot every one I get a chance at.

Refer back to my African crow post. They are hell on that farm with the newborn lambs. They are on them pecking out their eyeballs shortly after the lamb is born. I saw the ground littered with dead lambs with no eyeballs. The farm owner lent us shotguns, a Foxpro, decoys and an unlimited supply of shotgun ammo to blast away at them. If it wasn't so far, I'd be over there more often. :D

I’ve had great fun calling crows in the past. The resident pair that frequents my back yard gets a free pass because they haven’t bothered anything. My wife likes them because they raise holy hell if a hawk stops by to prey on one of her song birds or squirrels that frequent her backyard feeders.

Not so much for the starlings. I blast them every chance I get!

they are smart.they can be a nuisance.but it is some of the funnest shooting ive ever done.shotgun or rifle.killed one year before last 300yds. with a 20 br.39 gn blitzking 4000fps.

When I was young, early seventies and 80's, I could drop a crow from the then unheard of range of 300 yards with my daddies 22-250 on a regular basis. Maybe that was the start of a long range shooting career? I have very fond memories of driving around with the old man in winter popping crows. I wish I had a spot to do that with my son. I have shot them with a 410 in pines when they come to roost-Very fun fast action to stalking from long distance. Some of the best fun ever. If you do it right, you can get the mate too! They do mate for life. Till death do they part! They will sit there and crow at the fallen one if you are about 300+ yrds out. I don't think they taste to good though. I did offer to make some for the game warden but he did not take me up on it. Hawk makes a fine meal.

they are smart enough to know when they see something green come up in my garden that if they pull it up it will have a kernel of corn on the end,,,,they also have learned that a Brno Model 2 front sight sticking out the kitchen window has the rest of a Model 2 on the inside and they have exactly 1.85 seconds to get past the rock fence,
