Crooked AR barrel?

Status
Not open for further replies.
I've had crooked AR barrels that shot decent. That's besides the point here though..

The barrel probably isn't cut square with the barrel extension.... It happens. Should of been caught before it left whoever built the upper.

Send it back.

If extension/barrel is not straight with the receiver/BCG expect lug wear and if shooting something with a .440" diameter bolt face then have spare bolts handy.
Shoot the heck out of it until it fails. (Not).
Waiting for pics

Here is the handguard straight with the receiver, and the slight rightward of the barrel.

Just got off work.
Ignore the 30 cal holes, the left most high 223 hole was the last before the three shot group, I clicked one right after that shot and the orange circle is 1”.

So you are using a sight that is attached to the upper receiver, independent of the rail, and considering your sight mount isn't off kilter, it would be the barrel causing the issue. It's not like you have a front sight on the rail that is bent and causing the windage issue.

Who made the upper?

CMMG, I’ll talk to them tomorrow

Before condemning the barrel or fit to the upper, you need to also check the scope mounts.

Dismount and mount at the same spot and maybe one slot forward and back. You should be able to return to zero. Might even try a second scope.

There is no guarantee that the rail on the upper or the mount are square with each other.

Being able to remove and replace the scope without having to re-zero is something you will want to confirm no matter what.

This is also assuming you have confirmed that you’re no where near the center of the adjustment for windage.

Put one in your Midway cart and wait for free shipping.

OP will likely work this out with vendor instead of fixing it in the Kitchen (like I would)
