CRF Winchester Model 70 300 Win Mag Issue

I have a model 70 with serial number from late 62/early 63 with cocking issue.
Gun is new to me. When attempting to sight in, it fired two rounds then would not cock firing pin.
What I have done so far:
Checked for loose screws
Swapped out trigger/set
Checked bolt in another similar gun
Checked another bolt in dysfunctional gun
I found the bolt cocked fine in similar gun
I found that bolt from known working gun did not work.
Checked this against old trigger and replacement trigger. (Replacement was excellent condition trigger from another CRF)
Safety works as it should when bolt is in functioning gun.
Also…when separated from stock, all problems disappear. Tried another stock, problem reappears.
What’s next?
Appreciate your help.

With the barreled action in the stock, while duplicating the problem, push the trigger forward and test it again. It should work properly one time. That will isolate the problem to the area of the trigger inlet. Look for shining spots or indentations in the wood. Has it been bedded?
