Crack in Obeche stock

Have a crack at left side of grip that runs up to the back of tang. Does not effect shooting but effects my conscience. Looking for someone to fix so I never knew it was there and refinish with clear coat to look new again. If someone can do this or know of anybody give me a shout.
Thanks, Chief

If you have a professional cabinet shop or even an experienced wood worker in your area you should be able to find someone to do the repair quite easily. I typically use a hardwood dowel "pin" to make those kinds of repairs. It's not terribly difficult to do.

I have fixed a crack in one of my stocks with a good supper glue. I believe it was satellite city hot stuff. It is very thin and will wick down in the crack very well I just keep putting it in a little at a time letting it cure for a few minutes and then adding more tell the crack is full. It has been fine for years now. I do believe bill Shehane told me to fix it that way.

More common in thin sections used in musical instruments, obeche's neither particularly tough nor strong. If the crack was caused by unstable wood / hidden defect it probably needs more than just filling & refinishing or it'll crack someplace else soon.

Who made the stock?

Does the grain run perpendicular to the long axis of the grip? If so, a bedded stainless pin is a good fix.

Then the crack can be dealt with.
