I too like to shoot "song dogs" and varmints, however I don't shoot dogs, unless they try to attack one of us.
It is a good feeling to make a nice shot on a predator with one's rifle.

I'm not interested in shooting someone's dog either. I like dogs and have a black lab that is my dove/duck retriever. I was fooling around about expecting to find a collar on that first yote. I saw them coming for about 10 minutes and they were both "mousing" in the tall rye grass on that path they were following which led them to me.

We went back to some of those same planted corn fields from the last couple weeks. The corn is now pretty sizable and I don't think it's attractive to hogs anymore. But we did not come up empty-handed for our efforts.

It is suppressed. Silencerco Omega. I'm shooting full power 308 on my thermal and night vision rifles. I'm not interested in shooting subsonic at night. Too much room for error with my shooting skill.

Here's a couple more I got tonight. Before dark too!! Got home at a resonable hour for a change.

Lots of action last night but only one video.

My second stand was still daytime using a non-thermal rifle. Two coyotes popped out about three minutes after I turned the call on and went straight for my decoy, smelled me on the decoy and were gone before I could even get my gun on them.

Third stand, I watched one coming across a long field from a good distance away. Shot it at about 150 yards near a lone tree in the field. I saw it go down in the tall grass by the tree but couldn't tell what happened after that and it was gone when I went to look for it. Heard a solid hear it and saw blood but I just don't know what happened to that one?

Fourth stand was in a freshly planted field. I got set up in the middle of the field and walked about 50 yards away to put my caller on the ground, by the time I made it back to my rifle there were two coyotes coming down another road leading into the field. Actually one coyote was in retreat mode but the closer one continued to approach. He didn't make it.

Fifth stand I positioned myself facing a ditch crossing between two open fields near a wood line. About 15 minutes into the stand a large owl swooped down and landed on the ground near my caller. I had some neat video footage or so I thought of this owl flying around swooping down and eventually flying off to the woods. Only problem was I never checked the video camera and inadvertently switched it off instead of on. Five minutes later a large coyote is standing in the gap I was watching. He didn't make it Either. No video.


Great fun last night!!

I started out using my typical routine of baby cottontail followed by adult cottontail and got nothing. Before I left I switched to coyote locator and heard some respond immediately, so my next thought was to try some aggressive coyote sounds and again I got nothing.

Over an hour had elapsed since I began with baby cottontail and have not seen anything but heard some nearby so I switched back to coyote locator and this one came running in looking for a fight right away.

Pretty exciting!!
