I also use mouth calls in addition to e-callers. I have found for me, in my area of oklahoma that the e-caller gives one alot of flexability. Recently I discovered using the crow calls to supplement my rabbit distress, works great for me. Often times if I get no response from cottontail distress ill let the crow fight play and just sit back and wait for appox 15 mins. then shut everything off and sit for another 30 mins. I have had bobcats and coyotes both come in after all the noise has calmed down. Previously i would have given up on the stand after the rabbit distress and missed an oppurtunity on the predators coming in. Regardless of what caller u choose try to get a variety of sounds. I have even called in a pair of yotes using turkey vocals. Another thing ive started doing is packing 2 collaspable crow decoys with me to my stand and set them up so the coyotes can easily see them as they approach. I think it adds a calming effect to the set because crows are usually very weary birds.

I use a couple of stick in the ground crow dekes out in the field from my deer stand, "confidence" decoys".

fox pro! I have been calling for 40 yrs and just got a fox pro. first 5 stands had 11 coyotes right in my lap. didn't take my shotgun so didn't get as many as I should have. calls them in real close.

Wandering thru our closest Cabela's a couple of months ago and saw a sign "Foxpro Prairie Blaster II reg. $699.99 now $279.99! Looked around and found 1, it is now mine! That type stuff never happens to me (well, never happened before). Great unit, great buy!

With the FoxPros, what kind of distance are you able to get between the call and the remote. I'm reading mixed reviews on the maximum distances before the remotes will not work.

I can get 200 yds. out of my CS24B. Have not tried any longer. There is a member over on PM that has gotten 450yds. out of his Foxpro.

Last year I was hunting coyotes in New Mexico with a nephew. He has a FoxPro, (don't remember the model) and I had my Johnny Stewart Bloodhound E-Call. We had one hang up about 500 yards out, (using the FoxPro). First he sat and looked in our direction and then started to walk away slightly away from us. Nephew hit him again with the FP. Stopped and looked at us again. Well, long story short...My nephew said to turn on the Bloodhound. I hit him with the Jackrabbit sound and he jumped like his tail was on fire! My nephew put him to sleep at around 75 yards. Just saying. Oh...This is my first post!

Your're right about the old Weems. They were great calls. A really good Weems replica is still being made by Dan Thompson .. www.danthompsongamecalls.com who also makes the best hand calls available anywhere IMHO

Hand calls!!! TT Extreme, Government Trapper, Song Dog...

I have 2 FoxPro's (CS-24L and a Shockwave).... Neither of them stack dogs for me like hand calls do. Today, I alternated every-other-stand between the FoxPro and hand calls... Final score: hand calls = 3, Fox Pro = 0

Coincidence? Maybe, but in 2 years of doing this, hand calls have won every time... I admit that I do leave the FoxPro home most of the time anymore

Learning to use a Howler and the coyote language will be your most effective tool. Bill Austin perfected it in the 80's.

Watch Field and Stream's Major and Minor feeding periods for best hunting, prior to and during a low pressure front, and immediately after, these will be your most productive hunting times.

Watch your scent, always be able to see down wind when you set up your stand.

Nothing and I mean nothing will get those dominant coyotes to come in like a "Challenge Howl". You have to get them mad enough to fight, and if they have a young one with them, they will send in the youngster to see how wants to fight.

As far as E callers, I would get the best Fox Pro and call it done for predators. I like the old Johnny stewart 512 and Rivers with a booster on them for crows.

Foxpro= great sound and even better customer service. IMHO they're the best!
