Coyote and hog populations in north-central Arkansas

Is the population of either species large enough to warrant carrying an AR or would a bolt gun be sufficient~?
Would a .223 shooting a 53 gr bullet do the trick~?

All I shoot is a bolt gun with 53 grain noslers at 3500 FPS in 223. I live in southern sask, have many days of 8+ coyotes with this set up. Real windy days the 6 AI comes out

Last time I read through the regs for AR, it boiled down to hunting with 22 Mag if on public land when big game seasons were closed. Basically you could only shoot them with guns you could use for whatever game season was open…which boiled down to rimfire and shotgun for small game.

Grew up there. That area was my back yard until 5 years ago. Yes there’s hogs and coyotes but maybe not enough to warrant a trip. Coyotes (and hogs for that matter) are almost exclusively nocturnal there.
