COTTONMOUTH problems

With the dry mouth that stems from radiation and chemo damage comes chronic tooth decay. Takes me 15 mins to get my teeth prepared for sleep.

I had snakes as pets growing up but I still have about as much love for poisonous snakes as I do for cancer.

I worked in Southern Mississippi one summer in high school and nearly a year after college cruising timber. Our preferred snake medicine was a good stiff walking stick made of hickory. The butt end made the sharp end of the stick. The sticks started out about 5 to 6 feet long, got shortened about a foot before being replaced. They were about 2" in diameter at the butt end, and about 3/4" at the top.

The stick was always in your hand, as a walking stick to beat on brush, thorns, or whatever. When a snake was seen it was easy to kill the snake with a swing of the stick. To protect us from briars and snakes we wore aluminium covered canvas chaps. One of the funny stories from those days. Right on the Tombigbee River in Alabama, with a tallyman. We started out to the next plot with tall trees overhead and a lush thick ground cover about 24" to 30" high less than 100 yards from the river bank. I walked to the next sampling point, and he was stuck at the previous sampling point yelling at me "SNAKE" and refused to move. I walked back, took my stick (always in my hand when in the woods then) and killed the snake so he could continue. As I recall we killed 3 snakes that day (1974).

Here's what #9 shot in my 38 Special does to a cactus. Snake damage is just about the same.
