Cost of Redding vs Whidden dies

So, I am looking to buy a set of dies for a 284 Win. Most of the dies I have are Redding with some Whidden dies mixed in as well as a few others. My preference lately is Whidden or Redding.... So as I am looking for the dies online to buy, I noticed that the Redding dies are $60.00 to $100.00 more than the same set in Whidden. I am looking for a full length bushing and micro seater set. So my question is why???? Anybody have any ideas? I'm looking at the Redding set #36141 and seeing prices from $249.00 to $289.00. I have found the Whidden's at $189.00. Obviously I'm ordering the Whiddens.....

Redding is real proud of their bushing dies and the micro seaters- especially in some calibers according to what series or whatever. I use the regular fl dies for hunting guns but wont get any more of that high dollar stuff now that whidden is out there

Seems they are REALLY proud.... $100.00 is a big difference. I thought I was missing something so I looked at a few sites before I came to the same conclusion as you. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked Redding, but they aren't Whidden.

I here you on the Redding dies' must have a half dozen or better of the high dollar ones. Most folks may not believe me but I get better concentric loads from the match Hornady dies. Loaded up some .300 WM tonight and run out was right at .001.Do want some Whiddens for my .280 AI though

Forster. Barlow

I second forester. There prices are reasonable and the run out is on par with my Redding dies. And for less that 15 bucks forester will hone out your full length die to match your chamber if you send them a fired piece of brass. There micrometer seater have nice big turret tops with accurate hash marks.

When Redding was a smaller company they had great pricing. Not so much any more. I usually buy a body die and convert it to take bushings. Not to hard and works great. Forester makes great dies for a very reasonable price. In my experience Forester loads better ammo as well. For what you get, Whidden dies are also a very good choice and a good value. With very good customer service as well.Just my personal experience so far. :D:D

Personally I think they are both overpriced leading me to shop elsewhere, I'm very pleased with the direction I've chosen.

I ordered the Whidden's. I didn't get the click dies as I don't need them. Some day I might try them though.

Its just an easy way to adjust. No big deal to not have it for sure. Ive became a fan since they started doing it. You need .001 more bump- dial it and its spot on

I have the PMA die adjuster and I love it. It's easy to use too, but it's good to know the Whiddens are accurate in their adjustments. I wouldn't expect anything else from them.

I ues a Redding S die and a Wilson seater. The S die works fine but it doesnt size the base enough. As soon as i get to it Im gonna have Widden make a custom bushing die. I dont know if the standard Widden die will size the base correctly, but the custom is the same price as the reg, die. Just somthing to consider. E

Maybe you could thread it down a couple more thousand
