Correct Headspace Gauges

I'm doing a project on one of the new Savage mod 12 Target actions. The action comes with all necessary hardware.Barrel is coming from Pac-Nor chambered for the 6.5/08 Winchester Ackley Improved. I ordered my head spacing gauges from JGS precision tool mfg. The gauges sent to me were 308 Win. -.004" for the go gauge. The no-go gauge is a .308 Win. standard go gauge that they say is the no-go for the 6.5/08 Win AI. Anyone have any thoughts on this ?

That sounds correct to me. The .260 Remington Improved is supposed to be chambered so that a factory case will be a crush fit,-.004"). If the chamber accepts a standard Go gauge, it is cut too deep. GOOD gunsmiths know this.

Now, I must admit that I don't know if the 6.5/08 Winchester Ackley Improved is the same as the 260 Rem Improved but I suspect it is. Why the long name???

Thank you for your reply. The long name cause I wanted to get the cartridge correct. My first time to do such a project. I've heard that the 260AI is not the same as 6.5/08 Win AI. I believe it was said that the 260AI has a 30 degree shoulder and the 6.5/08 W AI has a 40 degree shoulder.

Got a return e-mail from Redding and found that the 260 Ackley Improved is in fact the same as the 6.5/08 Winchester AI .They both have the 40 degree shoulder. Thanks everyone ,John
