"corners" of primer pockets

Anything that resembles a cutter that goes in a primer pocket will eventually due to misalignment remove some material and make the pockets looser. Most of the guys here won't use a bronze brush in a stainless barrel but think a hardened steel cutter in a soft piece of brass is OK. I have learned the hard way what the point blank BR shooters told me and I wouldn't listen. I haven't cleaned a primer pocket in years, and don't plan on starting. In all my years I've lost a few to a split neck but 10 times more due to loose primer pockets.
So I'm not the only one that finds this amusing :)

Been loading since 1975, always just used an RCBS primer pocket brush. Still works just fine for me.
And i HAVE shot many forms of competition from DCM to bench rest.

Think there might be a difference between cleaning out the Corner radius , and going .040 deep in the pocket ? Surprised there was even a pocket left after that .

I like the idea of a uniform depth on the PP, then being able to control the primer crush depth. without it being uniform, you can't have a consistent primer depth. In some instances, primer depth can affect accuracy.
Also I have seen tests where cleaning the PP had no affect on accuracy. But I will agree that it can shorten the life of the brass having loose pockets. I have 1k of lapua 223 thats been fired 10 times, and i have only had one case with a split neck, and that was around 3-4th loading. They are so loose now, i retired them being afraid one will fall out and get under the trigger, and of course that will happen at perry in the Presidents 100! These were uniformed with the sinclair tool, and cleaned each time with the same tool. The 1k I'm prepping now I am not uniforming, or cleaning with the sinclair tool, if they get to bad and i cant stand it, i will clean with the RCBS brush tool, so it will be an experiment. I will have the results in about 18 months.
