Cooper TRP-3 Benchgun

We are hoping to test the Cooper TRP-3 "out of the box" 22LR benchrest gun this spring. Initial reports have been pretty positive. It looks like a very nice "turn-key" solution for club-level matches. The whole gun,without scope) costs less than an Anschutz 54 barrelled action.

Any one of you guys have one of these rifles yet?

Technical Specifications: Caliber: 22 LR Only.Weight: Approx. 8 pounds. Capacity: Single Shot. Twist: 1 in 16". BBL Length: 25 inches. Trigger: factory set at 24 ounces.

I also think this would be an excellent platform for a 17 Mach 2 Varminter. All you'd need is a barrel swap.

I'm really happy with my TRP-3. I got lucky when I found a wood stocked model. Cooper only produced 10 of these. They are good looking and accurate. If I do my part it has shot into a .09 @ 50 yards on a few outings.

I am looking for a good,and not very expensive) 22LR rimfire. Its use would be mostly BR style matches. But I apreciate the multi-role stock of the Anschutz 64 MPR, as I could do some club Silhouette Shooting...

So, how the Cooper TRP3 compares with the Anschutz 64 MPR. Wich one would be more accurate?
Also, is there any chance do adjust the Cooper trigger to around 12oz? Or any aftermarket trigger?
The Cooper being almost 400 dollars more than the Anschutz 64 MPR, is it worth?

I replaced my Cooper LVT with a TRP-3 and have been using it for rimfire BR with a Weaver T-36 scope in Talley Light Weight rings. I am new to the sport so my thoughts are just those of a new kid on the block. My rifle came with a 0.063" 50 yd 5-shot group test target. The best I've been able to shoot, so far, is a 0.176" but that's me, outdoors and inexperience. Shooting score, I'm in the mid 230s and that is definitely due to my errors. The rifle shoots Eley Target Rifle just as well as the more expensive stuff so I'll stay with that while I learn. Dan Cooper has indicated that Cooper will produce a true benchrest trigger this year. That will address the only complaint I have. The trigger is crisp and clean but won't safely adjust below 30 oz.

I'll be watching this thread with great interest and appreciate any tips others may have.

Rick, You shouldn't have any trouble getting the trigger under a pound. Here is a link from another forum describing how it's done. RBehr is one of the top guys at Cooper.

thanks guys.Iv used remingtons with the poly tip but my gun hates them,2.5" of hate.The thing is tho my gun loves the cheap crap and only 1 spendy kind.but where i hunt some chucks is built up.this is the reason for the 22mag,but i cant take a chance on a stray round zinging off.the TNT's are explosive and safe.

Hey, smanwon here,if any one wants the cooper wood br stock for there rifle,call cooper.I did, they said they would sale me one for $650.00 with beding block.But they would not sale me a extra barrel.

Is there a difference between a TRP and a TRP-3? If so, can someone explain with the differences are? Does anyone know what a "Trigger Assist" is for one of these and if there are 20 or more MOA bases available for them?
