Cooper model 51 Jackson hunter/223. The 50 grain is from choice ammunition. 60 grain is Black Hills

Hey guys sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but I have this rifle coming within the next couple of weeks. I just sent it directly from the dealer to Cooper to have the barrel threaded. It has a 22 inch barrel and a 9 twist. It was a special order that fell through and I picked it up. I have picked up the 50 grain VMAX 55 grain VMAX, 53 grain VMAX Superformance as well as the 60 grain VMAX. The 50 grain is from choice ammunition. 60 grain is Black Hills and the rest is Hornady. Of course I like to punch paper but this will be a Varmint rifle. I do not reload as of yet, but many friends do. Thoughts on this rifle in 1/9 twist, and ammo of choice. Thanks

Definitely try the 53 grain Superformance! The only.223 I ever owned was a 1:9-twist AR, and that was the only ammo -including handloads - that was accurate; also faster and flatter than any other stuff I tried. If, by chance that’s not accurate enough, I’d be sure to try the 60s.
Congratulations on the new Cooper.

If you have the availability of Fiochii 40 gr V-Max give it a try, you will be pleasantly suprised at the accuracy, less recoil and effectiveness of it.
The 40 gr V-Max and Nosler Ballistic Tip are my bullets of choice for varmints, I have shot both of them in a 1-8 twist through 1-12 twist barrels with no issues.

Thanks for all the info. I was leaning towards Sako but then got a call about this Cooper that a customer put a down payment on and fell through. I don’t think you can go wrong with a Sako, but I’ve seen tremendous loyalty towards the Cooper rifle and customer service. Looking forward to shooting it. Also just delivered today was the Sierra 64 grain tipped game king maybe for small deer within range or hogs? If it shoots it well. Once again thanks for the responses
