Cooper 22br Barrel life

I am looking at a used Cooper Phoenix in 22br, that has 500 rounds down the tube. Supposedly never shot hot. Any concerns on barrel wear with 500 rounds thru it? Should I pass? I won't be shooting benchrest but will be shooting varmints.

it should be good for another 2000 rounds or so as long as you dont shoot it hot and keep it clean [every 80 to 100 rounds] if it is a good barrel it should not foul too badly up to 100 rounds. go for it!!______treeman

Apples and oranges maybe, but I have a Cooper M21 in 223 Ackley Improved. I have shot approx. 10,000-11,000 rounds in my rifle @3400+ fps. My rifle is still a 5 shot 1/4"@100 yd. grouper.
I think 500 rounds through the 22BR is just barely getting started. See how it shoots and if the price is right, buy it.
Don't worry about the barrel. In my experience, all Coopers shoot well.
