Coon night

A pal & I removed 5 raccoon from a ranch last night & this was the top coon.
42 lbs & it was not easy holding him for the picture.
It is 2lb heavier than the heaviest coyote Ive shot and as big or bigger than most female coyote body size wise.
1st 4 came in all in a line and he popped 2 and as he was picking them up the other 2 didn't go far and I took them.
This porker had a twin with him, but one escaped into the bottom lands below the corrals/coops/barns.

Damn that's a huge coon !! You'll have to put it on a coyote stretcher!!
The guy who buys our furs wants them whole body, BUT I should of kept this one for my own wall!

GSPV...no calling these ones as they were on a set time every 2-3 nights in the same spot and right where we set up near the ranchers dead pile for coyote.

Good shooting! I have a big one behind my house, caught him on the game camera, but nothing like that guy. He's HUGE!

Neat hunt. Never thought of selling the things. One night I threw 9 away.

Funny but tomorrow I will be on a daytime deer/turkey hunt followed by a night hog/coon hunt.

Better learn from you and skin/sell the darn things.

What do they eat there,,,do they damage the crops ???....here in WV they eat a lot of corn and the farmers want them eliminated,,,a 22-25 pounder is about as big as they get,,,,Roger

Hi Roger. That coon will hit 30 lbs + easy, I've shot a lot of them! I have heard of ones up to 50 lb, but I have never seen one that big so I don't know!

AS for what they eat, just about anything. They love corn as has been mentioned, but also fish/crayfish/shrimp/garbage from trash cans/any kind of vegetables, and especially fruit ! They have been known to "Strip" peach, persimmon, and any and all fruit trees in a few nights. This should give you an idea as to their appetites, LOL.
