billiards chalk works great to remove bedding compound that May have dried on your stainless action. also works to blend In scratches. it does have abrasive properties so go with the grain or finish and as with anything else test on an inconspicuous are first.

Blue chalk or even white chalk,how does that blend with wood?

only on the action and barrel. has to b stainless.I said grain for lack of a better term. my stainless Savage action has the marks from turning on a lathe or however its factory machined. rub the chalk as if it were a small scuff pad. not as a putty or fill. again. only on stainless metal. polished stainless or chrome it will probably show us as scratches.
