Convince me...

One consideration I didn't see mentioned yet is the availability of brass. Even if performance between the two cartridges is a wash, availability of quality brass with today's shortages of reloading components might be an important consideration. If all else is roughly equal, even very small distinctions might make a difference.

I see the Creedmoor haters are out in force today
I'm just not smart enough to know why they hate the creedmoor, It has a place too. They remind me of people in church that don't like "new (modern)" music, when I tell them "the old rugged cross" (I tell them it wasn't written the day after Jesus was put on the cross) was new at one point they can never respond.

I'm not in any way putting shade on the Creedmoor cartridge of any variant. Bought one in the dreaded 6-1/2 CM for my oldest to hunt whitetail with and if it's taken care of, should last for generations. I do however: Not like the way things advanced. For me personally, I'd rather patronize Mr Tubb before I would Mr. Hornady. I feel like they capitalized on his design and went "big time" since they had a huge share in the market and likely a much bigger wallet. I think the people who "know" so to speak, still use the XC and enjoy it's benefits. It does allow slightly more chasing if you are into keeping up with throat erosion. A lot of guys don't worry about that and will never see that aspect of the XC design. I still have and use a 22-250 based reamer design.

I’m not sure how to describe my feelings about the 6.5 Creedmoor and it’s offspring, but I’m sure that it wouldn’t be hate. There’s nothing wrong with the cartridges themselves. It’s the disproportionate number of fanboys at the range who praise all things creedmoor as the most powerful and accurate cartridges in history that have kept me at bay from joining their ranks. Most of us know that there were already plenty of cartridges in existence that do everything a creedmoor does and in many cases do it better.

Now this I understand!!

They are "Close",.. BUT,..
The 6 XC has, a Longer Neck, uses 2 or, 3 grains, Less Powder and HAS Won, MANY More, 1,000 Yard Matches than, the 6 Creed.,.. and it has, somewhat better, Barrel Life !
Hornady, should have Paid, David Tubb, a small "Royalty" on, the 6 XC design and went with,.. IT !
See, here is one problem for me is I never knew this information at all, had never researched the "where" did it come from! Thanks for that.

@ Shooter 13,..
David Tubb, had Won, a few 1,000 Yard, X course Matches with, the .243 Win and wanted something "Better" so, he started Experimenting with, Modifying, the .22-250 Case, to see IF he could improve his Scores
( better Accuracy @ 1,000 ! ) and INCREASE, Barrel Life as the .243 Win IS, kind of, a "Barrel Burner" with it's short neck and being, "Overbore". He also co-invented with Sierra, the 115 DTAC Bullet.
There's quite a LOT of Info here, on Accurate Shooter, if you, search for it.

@ Shooter 13,.
To learn about, the Development and WHO used, the 6 XC to, Win, at various Shooting Venues go to,..
the Home Page and click on, 6 XC or 6 XC Tubb articles. The Awesome "History" is all, there !
MANY shooting Events were Won with it by,. German Salazar see "Prone Gun", Dennis DeMille, a couple of others that, I can't remember and of course, David Tubb. ( Yup, a LOT of,. "Bling", was Won ! )
After studying, the "Merit's" of, the 6 XC Cartridge and how WELL it "Feeds", in a Rem 700, Short Action,..
I built One,.. for, myself !
