Converting standard neck sizer to a bushing neck sizing die - Who does it???

I am in need of a bushing neck sizer (like a Redding "S" bushing neck sizer), for a caliber that is not available in that construction - Caliber in question is .218 Bee.

I remember years ago, reading that someone(s) could convert standard neck sizing dies to take bushings.

Does anyone know who does this service?

Redding has a custom die service. I bet they could make one for you.

Jim Carstensen at JLC Precision.

Thanks JRS... this what I am looking for - especially since a have several "donor" neck sizer dies, and he charges about $30-35 to do it.

His website is gone, but his phone number is still active - I'll call him this week.

To everyone: CH/4D sells bushing neck sezer bodies in different lenghts. Just get the body in lenght needed then just add the bushing needed.

I sentt a 20 Ackley bee FL die to Jim to convert into a neck bushing die, last year.$65 with shipping.CP 563 212 2984.With the stock RCBS FL die the neck was sizing about .008 too much.218 bee brass is thinner than 204,222,etc.While my 204r load out at .228,the 20 AB is .223 no turn.

My .218 Bee has a beautiful no turn chamber - fired cases have about 2 thou clearance for a bullet to slide in... but my die sizes it ~0.011" under :(

Thanks for the info, guys.

I have had JLC convert two dies from standard to Redding Type S style and was very happy with both dies and have used them extensively.

Why not buy a Wilson bushing die for $49 and save your money and time?

Loading tons of .218 Bee are you? If you FL size on your 7/8x14 die first can likely use the Wilson die w/o an arbor press. Just an idea. Good luck!

Well... not "tons", but about 1,500 pieces. I bought a bunch on eBay (before they banned gun stuff) paid 5 cents each. I have two rifles for it - a tight chambered single shot and a Browning M65 lever gun.

Torg,
No less an authority than famed benchrest shooter, and gunsmith Billy Stevens makes custom seaters with chamber reamers and Troy Newlon's die blanks, and although they do not have sliding sleeves, I think that if you call Billy, he will tell you that they work really well, to top level benchrest standards. Recently Troy has added blanks that have micrometer adjustments, that can also be retrofitted to existing dies. Billy has spent considerable time and effort chasing (and finding) concentricity. His contact information is listed under gunsmiths at Benchrest Central ( www.benchrest.com )
Next problem....
